When I first came to Heart and Pole it was to teach as I was already a professional pole dancer and performance artist. I had no idea that I was actually coming to learn. Trina Lance, all of her beautiful staff, and even the students have shown me so much and I have grown immensely since I first started coming through the door. It was never their intention to help me improve and they have always treated me like a super star. The flow, transitions...the "in-between stuff", the feelings, story-telling, and passion is what most performers need without even knowing it. Trina is actually the one who began calling me Butterfly as my name and not just a symbol of a beautiful flying creature that I always strive to be. It wasn't until I found Heart and Pole that I truly and fully completed my metamorphosis. I will continue to visit with eyes and ears open as I know there is always room to grow and more to experience. Trina's specialty is sharing. In February of 2009, after hearing many subtle negative comments regarding self-image, a colleague suggested I try a class at Heart and Pole Dance Studio. Her rationale implied that the classes are extremely motivational and celebrate women. I took an absolute leap of faith and registered for a class. I am guilty in saying that I held the standard stereotype that the class would help teach me to become sexy. I truly had no idea what I had taken on and couldn't have possibly foreseen the amazing changes I was about to experience. I clearly remember the Sunday morning, about six weeks into class, when I looked in the mirror and felt beautiful. Tears came down my face because for the first time I was seeing what others saw all along. The beauty about Heart and Pole is it works from the inside out. People tend to associate pole dancing with a visual image of a woman with little to no clothes. That visual image is often based on sexuality rather than soul and skill. The Heart and Pole teachers and classes prioritize the feelings and qualities that you develop as you recognize the strong and beautiful woman inside. The classes emphasize on the physical strength and grace to become a dancer but more importantly they teach you to appreciate the strength and grace that you already naturally possess. The environment in which the classes are taught is an atmosphere of safety and comfort. The women who take the classes become more than classmates and friends but family because we share a common journey of personal growth. As a woman, it can be such a struggle to develop a positive self-image with the barriers that are part of everyday life. Heart and Pole classes offer fun, exercise, strength, friendship, acceptance, empowerment, encouragement, personal growth, and a loving heart.

Heart and Pole has become a part of my life and has helped me become a stronger individual in all capacities of my life. It has changed and healed parts of me that I thought were broken. I know that because of my experience with Heart and Pole, I impact others with a kinder and more compassionate heart. - M

Words really cannot express the way Heart and Pole has changed my life. Sometimes I wonder if it would be better called "Heart and Soul" when I consider how my experiences with Heart and Pole have healed me. I still recall the day I stumbled upon the dance studio. I was near tears, suffering over the tragic loss of a young friend, wondering if I would ever be able to see past the injustices of the world and smile again. There I was, a damaged and sullen woman, blinking in the warm sunny energy that Trina Lance emits like a beacon. As we moved through the expansiveness of that very first class, I realized I was in the company of other women who had something to work through. Some had lost their jobs, some had lost their marriages. Some had endured domestic violence, loss and tragedies. At the end of that first class, we were giggling with the sheer abandon of little girls who have remembered how fun it is to bounce on a trampoline or ride a merry-go round. The dancing became like therapy to us as we learned to accept ourselves, work through past abuses and pain, and turn our faces to the light. I felt like a flower that had been kept dormant, in the dark, for many years, and now finally someone had come along and watered my soul with radiance. That patient gardener was Trina Lance. Now, over a year later, I can hardly recall who I used to be. -S

I think Trina has created a sort of Disneyland for grown women. I feel young again and capable of anything! And sometimes I end up laughing so hard in class that I have to catch my breath. I just wanted to thank you for a wonderful experience. My cousin booked your pole party for her sister's bachelorette party. Not knowing what to expect, I attended, mostly out of a feeling of obligation to my very special cousin. What happened in that room was nothing short of amazing. I watched the girls in our party leave all their inhibitions behind and be free. I marveled at how beautiful everybody looked when they just let go and felt their inner power as women. I could tell that everyone who just let it happen, partook of a very powerful experience. Nobody was worried about their size, or shape. Nobody was concerned about their lack of experience. I can't tell you how stressed out I was when I was put in charge of my sister's bachelorette party. All she told me was "make sure it's amazing!" So I started doing research on what we could do for the evening and it all sounded so lame. Plus I don't think some of the girls would have appreciated a guy dancing in their laps. Someone told me about Heart & Pole and how they'd been to a great bachelorette party there, so I called you (H&P). I talked with Trina on the phone for at least half an hour. I felt so comfortable right away with her. She explained everything about how the evening would go and answered about a million questions very patiently. I got a good vibe right away. When we got to the studio, it was incredible. So elegant and professionally decorated. And Trina could not have been nicer, or funnier! She taught us moves like "Smell Your Armpit" and "Stir the Peanut Butter". The names made us giggle so hard, but when we did them, we looked S-E-X-Y!
